While You Were Away...

It’s been a hectic couple of months for the musafirs, but we’ve had some really amazing experiences recently that deserve note.

First and foremost, after MONTHS of waiting, I finally got to attend a Jordanian wedding (along with Alix and Rob)!!!!!! Honestly, it was one of the most fun events I’ve been to here. After days of dress hunting, a few hours at the salon, and running around my office trying to do makeup and get dressed, we rolled up to the hotel looking fly. We danced, ate an exorbitant of good food, and somebody handed me a sleeping child to watch at one point, who was adorable. Thank you to our dear Abood, and mabrouk to the bride and groom!

So fancy.

After all that excitement, Alix and I packed up for a fantastic weekend of travel to Wadi Rum, Aqaba, and the Dead Sea. Though we had to wake up at six in the morning, it was well worth it to ride around in the back of a Jeep for four hours cruising the desert. Despite a few near-death experiences, the feel of the wind on your face as the sun slowly turns you into a lobster is irreplaceable. Plus, we had a few hayabi from Amman with us, and a huge crew of super awesome new Jordanian friends that made our time even more exhilarating.

I always love heading to the Red Sea, and though I walked away with a nice jellyfish sting and some nasty bug bites that required yet another shot in my rear, I think the mozeh riders will all agree the sea was worth our struggles. After a tough weekend of grand adventure and limited sleep, Mac Attack, Aboody, and I ventured to the Dead Sea for some R&R. Of course, it’s only relaxing if you remember not to rub your eyes when you’re in the water...

And finally, this past weekend was the Easter holiday here in Jordan. Not only did we get a day off work and school, but also my lovely friend Sara gave me some delicious cookies that are tradition here. The ring shaped ones are symbolic of the crown of thorns Jesus wore, and she’s not sure what the other one means…

yum yum yum yum yum. From here.

A few days later, some of our local friends came over for a belated Easter dinner, complete with fish, vegetables, and rice. Sounds simple, but it took Suhail and I about three hours of cooking to pull that off. Next time, we’re making magloubeh because that’s my favourite.

FEAST!

Anyway, thanks to everyone who has put up with us and helped us here in Jordan. Thank you to all our friends, those still here, and those who’ve gone. And thank you to our family and friends back in the States, who continuously support our crazed adventures. We’ll see you soon.
